Community Outreach

Education plays a vital role in maintaining health. At Pullman Regional Hospital, we provide health education programs and services to increase knowledge and awareness of the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional aspects of health. We regularly participate in health fairs, health screenings and give educational presentations to children and seniors.

As a public service, we recommend resources to our patients that can assist in a variety of health and wellness related issues. Some examples are:

  • Child Care Resource and Referral
  • Palouse Resource Guide
  • United Way of Pullman
  • Whitman County Community Action Center
  • WSU Health and Wellness Services Freedom from Smoking Class

Project ACCESS

Project ACCESS is a collaborative effort between Gritman Medical Center, Pullman Regional Hospital, Whitman Hospital & Medical Center, Area Agency on Aging, and the Council on Aging to close the gaps in services for Palouse communities. The initial grant, initiated by The Palouse Alliance for Healthy Individuals, Families, and Communities, focuses on increasing rural seniors' access to existing services through transportation, community education and outreach, and caregiver needs. By increasing access to services and resources Project ACCESS promotes healthy aging so seniors can stay in their own homes and communities.

With two successful years with Project ACCESS, the Palouse Alliance applied and was awarded a HRSA Rural Network Development grand focusing education for professionals serving the mental health needs of rural seniors.

Project ACCESS strives to create and educate an inclusive network of area professionals through; face-to-face community organizing and the development of a web-based system of communication. Their Rural Network Partners include area clergy, emergency response personnel, mental health professionals, social workers, primary care, and long-term care providers.
