Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Therapy is a comprehensive rehabilitation program that is quickly becoming a favorite among patients. The buoyancy of the water provides a weightlessness sensation, making the atmosphere in which the patient works appear easier than traditional strength training. Summit Physical Therapy offers two different aquatic therapy opportunities for our patients.
SwimEx Aquatic Therapy Pool
Our in-house SwimEx aquatic therapy pool provides patients with a warm water environment to begin their rehabilitation.
Benefits of the SwimEx pool include:
- The buoyancy of water allows patients in the initial stages of rehab to begin therapy sooner.
- The multi-depth capabilities allow patients to progress from non-weight bearing activities to specific levels of partial weight bearing.
- An adjustable current allows for increased intensity and resistance as a patient's rehabilitation progresses.
- Warm water (94 degrees F) provides a good environment for improving mobility and range of motion in patients recovering from surgery, back pain, arthritis pain and various other conditions.
Aqua Power Classes
Summit Physical Therapy works closely with the Pullman Aquatic Center to provide community water aerobics classes. This service provides an environment for our patients and community members to continue their therapeutic exercise and progression of fitness goals in a supervised and fun environment.
More information on class schedule and costs can be found in the Services section.
