Hospital receives accreditation for fully digital mammography

Pullman Regional Hospital has been awarded a three year term of accreditation in digital mammography as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology.

The ACR awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation.

Pullman Regional Hospital is one of the first hospitals in the nation, and the only site within 120 miles, to incorporate fully digital mammography into its comprehensive diagnostic services for early detection of breast cancer.

The new Lorad Selenia mammography system uses revolutionary imaging technology which provides sharp, clear images. The radiologist reads the images off of high resolution monitors and can lighten, darken, or magnify an area of interest. This technology is especially helpful for women with dense breasts and/or micro-calcifications.

Digital mammography offers a number of practical advantages and patient conveniences.

Exam times are significantly shorter and the need for repeating images is greatly reduced. Digital images are easily stored and transferred electronically, eliminating the dependency on one set of films, which can be misfiled or lost in transit.

Pullman Regional Hospital is the Pacific Northwest’s newest hospital and opened its doors December, 2004. Overlooking the campus of Washington State University, the Level III trauma center offers 24 hour urgent and emergent care as well as full service surgical, obstetrics and intensive care services.
