Pullman Regional Hospital seeks Commissioner for Hospital Board

PULLMAN, WA—Applications are now being accepted for the open position on the Pullman Regional Hospital Board of Commissioners.

The vacancy occurs with the resignation of Hal Kerr, effective June 30. Kerr served as a hospital commissioner for nine years and was president of the board for three years, during which Pullman built the newest rural hospital in Washington state.

Kerr recently retired from Washington State University as the chair of the Finance Department and is moving to Bend, Oregon, where he and his wife have built a house.

Joe Pitzer, president of the Pullman Regional Hospital Board of Commissioners, said, “The board is very grateful to Hal Kerr’s service to the hospital and the district and for his leadership and insight during a time of great growth and change for Pullman Hospital.”

Pitzer said, “We are looking for candidates who are interested in being part of growing the Pullman Care Community to meet the healthcare needs of the community, particularly someone with experience in finance or information and electronic technology.”

He continued, “The future of healthcare in the region includes a strategic focus on electronic medical records, development of healthcare specialties that can serve our region, and working in partnership with business and medical specialists to create a comprehensive healthcare community.”

Applicants must be registered voters living within the Pullman Regional Hospital District, which is Pullman city limits. Hospital employees are not eligible to apply. This position will be appointed by the board to complete Kerr’s term as commissioner and then will stand for public election in 2007.

Please send letter of interest with statement of qualifications to:  Joe Pitzer, President, Pullman Regional Hospital Board of Commissioners, c/o 835 SE Bishop Blvd., Pullman, WA  99163. Interviews of applicants will begin in September. The deadline for submitting a letter of interest is August 31, 2006.
